JUST VOTE in the ALA Elections
I got my login information today for my ALA Election ballot (they will be e-mailed to ALA members over the next few days) and realized that the links I need to vote well are in an item from the last AASL Hotlinks, which I've pasted in below. There is a link to the AASL candidates and a link to AASL and YALSA/ALSC members running for Council.
I know that our voting is most helpful when focused on people who are "youth" members and AASL has compiled that list (not an endorsement, a list). It makes the online voting process much less daunting.
(And, if you are also an ALSC member, Terry Young [New Orleans, author of School Libraries Work] is on the ballot for the Caldecott Committee. This IS a personal endorsement.) I don't know what other AASL members are on such ballots, but Terry would do a great job.
I have to reiterate the words below. It is very important to use our school library voice by voting in the ALA and AASL elections. We raised the voter levels last year by more of us taking the opportunity to vote and need to be even MORE proactive this year.
So, watch for your ballot over the next few days, use the links below to help, and ...JUST VOTE!

From the March AASL Hotlinks:
Vote in the 2007 Election and be part of ALA's future! For school library media specialists to have a voice in ALA governance, it is critical to support AASL members running for leadership positions in ALA by casting your ballot. Representation is essential for school library concerns and issues to be addressed.
Every AASL personal member is eligible to vote, which gives AASL almost 10,000 potential votes. In the 2006 election AASL members cast 2,178 votes, which is only one fifth of the division's membership. Let your voice be heard!
Ballot mailing will begin on March 15 and polls will be open from March 15 through April 24.
